The ongoing military conflict between the United States (US) and Iran has escalated as US airstrikes in five provinces of Iran prompted an immediate armed response from Tehran targeting US assets in the Persian Gulf.

On Thursday, the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Health reported that 14 individuals lost their lives and 78 others were injured due to the airstrikes carried out by US forces over the past two days, which have targeted civilian infrastructure despite a ceasefire agreement between the two nations.

According to Hossein Karmanpour, the head of the Public Relations Center at Iran’s Ministry of Health, the strikes occurred on Wednesday and Thursday affecting a total of five provinces across the Persian territory.

An Iranian medical official confirmed that 47 of the 78 injured individuals are still receiving treatment in various hospitals across the country, indicating that the severity of their injuries has necessitated significant medical resources. Karmanpour detailed via social media that, following the Health Minister’s directives, representatives from the Faculty of Medicine visited Imam Ali Hospital in the port city of Chabahar to assess the clinical status of the victims and oversee medical service improvements amidst the aggression.

Despite the intensity of the US bombings, medical sources confirmed that hospital infrastructure sustained no significant damage, allowing healthcare facilities to continue providing care, as reported by Al Mayadeen.

Violation of Understanding Memorandum and “A Flagrant War Crime”

The scale of the offensive has been described as one of the most intense since the signing of the Understanding Memorandum between the two nations on June 18, aimed at ending the war.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the aggression by the Trump administration, labeling it a “flagrant war crime.”

According to the Iranian ministry, the bombings “not only represent a clear violation of paragraph 4 of article 2 of the United Nations Charter, but also a blatant breach of the first and fifth clauses of the understanding memorandum.”

It also reaffirmed the strong determination of the courageous Iranian people to defend their territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security, as reported by HispanTV.

The geopolitical landscape further tightened when Iran fulfilled its threat and launched several missiles and drones against US strategic positions in Gulf nations, confirming that their previous warning to respond immediately and forcefully to any attack on its territory was not mere rhetoric.

The offensive included strikes against US military positions in the region, located in Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain.
