Original article: Feria del Libro de Valdivia vuelve al Parque Saval entre el 4 y el 6 de septiembre

The Valdivia Municipal Cultural Corporation (CCM), in collaboration with the local municipality, has announced the 34th edition of the Valdivia Book Fair, taking place from September 4 to 6, 2026, at Parque Saval.

Under the motto «With the strength of books, we envision the future,» the fair will gather authors, publishers, illustrators, musicians, and the entire community over three days of free family programming organized into five thematic lines: Nature and Science, Art and Publishing, Childhood, Society, and Memory.

Organizers revealed that this year’s agenda includes various activities such as illustration and bookbinding workshops, book launches and presentations, discussion panels, and live music performances.

Notable guests include Romina Pistolas, who will present her book «My Year of Sex and Relaxation»; journalist Mirko Macari; writer Ernesto Garratt; author and singer-songwriter Colombina Parra – performing in honor of her father, Nicanor Parra; and UACh Editions, which will present Charles Darwin’s autobiography.

The fair will also feature the national launch of «Pumita and the Little Girl» by Jack Elkyon (5 Sur Publishing), a panel dedicated to reading in childhood – «Reading as We Eat» – and the launch of «Pablito Recovers: Street Psychology» by Pablo Yévenes.

The official inauguration will be held on Friday, September 4, at 7:00 PM, featuring the awards ceremony for the Fernando Santiván literary contest, followed by a musical performance by the Duo Ussiel B2B along with Guest457 (from Valdivia).

Each day will conclude with live music: «El sur a la rueda» and «Aurora y las Gardenias» on Saturday, and «Mr. G Funk» on Sunday.

«The Book Fair is not just a meeting of authors and publishers: it is a concrete action to promote reading that transcends the local and positions our region as a cultural reference. Reading transforms, and that transformation enables the construction of other futures,» stated Isabel Tobar, manager of the Valdivia Municipal Cultural Corporation.
