Valparaíso: Poet Jorge Teillier to Be Celebrated with Concert and Live Session on Radio Valentín Letelier

Jorge Teillier (1935-1996) is recognized as one of the most impactful poets in 20th-century Chilean literature. His poetry shaped the genre known as lárica or lares poetry, capturing the essence of provincial life, childhood memories, and cherished traditions, all set against the picturesque landscapes of southern Chile.

«Crónicas del Forastero» is a musical experience inspired by the rich poetic universe of Jorge Teillier. Rather than a conventional homage, this initiative emphasizes that poetry exists not only in books but also in sound, space, and artistic experimentation.

The event invites attendees to engage with poetry as a sensory and critical experience through an immersive sound journey crafted by participating bands. «Here, music becomes a language that converses with Teillier’s work,» states Álvaro Pavez Cataldo, a member of Lxs Sagradxs.

The inaugural activity, part of the musical gathering «Crónicas del Forastero,» is a tribute dedicated to the poet of the lares. This free-entry presentation is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, from 3:45 PM to 5:50 PM at the Sala Rubén Darío.

The stage will feature three projects from the local independent scene: Vaquero Muerto, Cap Ducal, and Lxs Sagradxs, accompanied by visual displays from artist VJ Keka. The event is produced by the renowned music label La Silla Corp in collaboration with Lxs Sagradxs, Mauco Records, La Casa Centro Cultural, and Sonria.cl.

On Friday, June 26, the event transitions to a radio format. The central gathering will take place at 12:00 PM during «Café Negro / Toma Directa» on Radio Valentín Letelier (RVL) at the University of Valparaíso. Lxs Sagradxs will be the main guests, presenting a «Session Electro» focused on live instrumentation.

The live broadcast will air at 97.3 FM for the Valparaíso region and can also be streamed online at https://rvl.uv.cl for audiences outside the region.
