Venezuela breaks international isolation as acting President Delcy Rodríguez returned to the country following a nearly week-long tour of India and Turkey, securing agreements in oil, flights, and transportation aimed at strengthening strategic alliances and economic development.

“Touching down in Venezuela with a strong sense of fulfillment,” the president expressed in a message shared from the presidential aircraft, describing the mission as a decisive step to boost national development and enhance the South-South axis.

Rodríguez emphasized that she returned to Caracas “with high hopes and projects for the benefit of our country and our people.”

Rodríguez’s itinerary, which saw her take on the interim presidency of Venezuela after the military aggression carried out by the United States on January 3, which included the kidnapping of constitutional President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, included high-level meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as with energy ministers and major business conglomerates.

Turkey: Flights, Mining, and a Commercial Leap from USD 448 Million to USD 3 Billion

In the second phase of her tour, Rodríguez met with Erdogan in Istanbul at the Dolmabahçe Palace, a venue reserved for strategic meetings. There, they agreed to enhance cooperation in mining, energy, transportation, and air connectivity. A key highlight: Turkish Airlines has “become one of the main airlines operating in Venezuela,” the president noted, according to Infobae.

The goal is to increase bilateral trade volume from the current USD 448 million to USD 3 billion, as reported by the Turkish presidency.

Erdogan asserted that “Turkey will always stand by the Venezuelan people”, agreeing with Rodríguez on the need to enhance cooperation in trade, energy, and mining, as per the official statement.

Venezuelan Oil Exports to India

Previously, Rodríguez spent five days in India focusing on reactivating Venezuelan crude oil exports. Data from consultancy firm Kpler ranks Venezuela as India’s fourth-largest total supplier in April and May, and third for specific operations. The president visited the Jamnagar refinery, the largest in the world, owned by Reliance Industries, and met with the Tata conglomerate to explore investments in renewable energy and urban transportation.

In a significant geopolitical maneuver, Rodríguez held a «courtesy meeting» with the U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor. The meeting is part of a new phase in relations between Caracas and Washington, which has allowed the resumption of Indian purchases of Venezuelan oil.

Accompanying the acting president of Venezuela were Foreign Minister Yván Gil, as well as the ministers of Tourism, Daniela Cabello; Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez; Transportation, Jacqueline Faría; Foreign Trade, Johann Álvarez; and Communication, Miguel Pérez Pirela.

“We are happy to conclude this international tour,” Rodríguez stated before boarding her return flight, underscoring that Venezuela is committed to a multipolar agenda to break isolation and diversify its alliances.
