The world braces for close US election with far-reaching consequences

The United States goes to the polls Tuesday in a very tight election, the result of which will have far-reaching consequences beyond its borders. In Russia and Israel, the expectation is a victory for the Republican Party candidate, former president Donald Trump, which would also be welcomed ultra-right governments such as those in Argentina or Hungary. In Brussels and Ukraine, confidence is high that the winner will be the Democratic Party candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, who would maintain the current relationship with the EU and support for Kyiv in the face of the Russian invasion.
