The president of the Valparaíso Medical Association, Luis Ignacio de la Torre, criticized the lack of public health and management experience of the new secretary, stating that the region needs “consolidated leadership from those experienced in the public network,” according to Radio Biobío.

At the same time, the Dentists’ Association confirmed they are investigating testimonies from former colleagues at the University of Valparaíso who accuse Ibani of selling dental products as if they were from a Japanese brand.

Additionally, inquiries are underway regarding Ibani’s time as clinical director at Italdent clinic in Viña del Mar, a role for which, according to Dentist Association president Pedro Tapia, a medical or dental surgeon degree is required. Former employees also reported issues with salary payments during his management from 2014 to 2016.

Radio Bío Bío in Valparaíso contacted the Valparaíso Health Secretariat regarding these allegations and criticisms against the new authority, but they declined to comment.  Social Democrat legislator Nelson Venegas labeled the situation as “embarrassing,” criticizing the “improvisation” of Kast’s government in key positions.

As of the article’s publication, Aldo Ibani has not issued a statement. Meanwhile, the unions announced they will continue gathering evidence to possibly forward it to the appropriate authorities.
