«Chilean citizens deserve to know the truth,” asserted Senator Daniella Cicardini (PS) as she called for clarity regarding the corruption investigation into a far-right network led by José Antonio Kast.

Following the fall of Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s new Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, announced the initiation of a probe regarding the potential misuse of public funds to finance the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and related organizations within his global network, which includes the Political Network for Values (PNfV) —known as Red por los Valores in Spanish— a far-right platform that was led by Kast from 2022 to 2024.

The judicial inquiry specifically targets the origin, flow, and final destination of substantial Hungarian public funds to ascertain whether they were systematically diverted to support organizations, foundations, think tanks, summits, media outlets, influencers, and global ideological and political extreme-right networks.

In the case of PNBfV, it is anticipated that the group received funding multiple times, purportedly authorized by the administration of Orbán—whom Kast has referred to as «an inspiration for our work since day one of the government»—and those funds are currently under scrutiny by Hungarian authorities amid accusations of corruption, irregular political financing and potential misuse of public funds by the former Prime Minister of the European nation.

In light of this situation, Senator Daniella Cicardini demanded transparency to clarify the allocation of resources and to determine whether the far-right platform exerted any influence on Kast’s presidential campaign.

«The international network that José Antonio Kast presided over for two years is now under investigation for corruption in Hungary, and this is not being denounced by the left; it is being addressed by the new right-wing Hungarian Prime Minister due to the potential use of public resources,» she stated in a video shared on her social media.

Cicardini: «Chile Has a Right to Know if Money from the Network Fueled Kast’s Campaign»

«Chile has the right to know if there was money, support, or influence from that international network in Kast’s presidential campaign or that of his associates, and we expect the President to finally answer who financed his trips and international activities with this far-right network before taking office,» she asserted.

The parliamentarian reminded that the current president «never clarified who financed that tour,” which she labeled as «serious.»

«Chilean citizens deserve to know the truth,» emphasized Cicardini while mentioning that she, along with Deputy Daniel Manouchehri (PS), will evaluate next steps.
